![]() I know of no other asset that allows this, for months i played with NGUI Free before finally getting the paid version a few months ago. ![]() Here's the deal with NGUI, Aren is good enough to offer a free version for you to work with, and ONLY after you decide that its the product you want to use for your game /app do you have to pay for it. YOUR GUI designer is the one who screwed you over, he's the one who knows how his code works, if your having problems take it up with him. I've worked in real dev studios and when you have to make up for a programmer or designer who leaves or is let go its a real burden on everyone. I found this website ( ) and the guy did some fantastic videos that really got me thinking about how to extend and customize the product - and showed me how extensible it is and just generally easy it is to work if you have any basic programming skills. Like EZGUI, NGUI has a slight learning curve but nothing most people with brains can't handle. Why is NGUI so much better? On paper, EZGUI and NGUI look very similar but that is where the similarities end. I have tried Unity GUI which is useful for "Hello World" and things like that, and have tried EZGUI which is good, but NGUI is by far the best product I have found so far at any price. I just purchased NGUI (before they lowered the price ARRRGH!) and just wanted to stop in and just wanted to stop in and say how AWESOME of a product it is. Also NGUI comes with full C# source code. Probably you were just expecting something different, or just couldn't figure out how to use NGUI. But for now there is a reason it's rated 5 stars in the asset store, and is top-grossing. Maybe ngui will decline in future when Unity new gui comes out. Why doesn't Unity come with any shaders that support per-vertex colors from script? Maybe it does and I just cant find them. I'm also using some of NGUI's per-vertex color shaders for my own purposes. Currently implementing a HUD minimap navigation widget using a render-texture. Along the way I have realized many benefits of ngui and the v3 of my dominos game is going to look and function much better as a result of choosing this kit. I am porting my game over from ezgui to ngui. He also provides very fast support and bug fixes. And Michael (Aren) has experience to pull it off. It is internally consistent, it's one man's vision of what Unity GUI should be. It is very Unity-like and component based, which is one of it's strengths. This system was not designed in a vaccum and it's well designed. NGUI is written by an expert coder with game industry experience who has designed several game UI systems in the past. Unless you are a Flash UI coder, there are other tools for that like Scaleform and Swf-something. Haters - NGUI *is* the best 3rd party UI package available for Unity.
